A doctor in Karnataka has got involved in a criminal case for issuing fake covid certificates. Aditya Birla insurance company has filed a criminal case against this doctor who issued fake certificates to defraud the insurance company.

The registration of a doctor with their respective medical councils gives the power of issuing a valid sickness/ fitness certificate to doctors. In case of misuse, a doctor faces the possibility of losing the registration certificate but in case of loss of revenue to the insurance companies or in case such a certificate is misused in a court of law, the doctor who has issued the certificate can get into a serious legal problem.
